Futurama Comics #36 entitled ‘You Don’t Wanna Know Jak!’ was released today. Thirty-two pages written by Ian Boothby, penciled by Mike Kazaleh and inked by Andrew Pepoy. Basically Fry, Bender and Leela head for the planet New England where they discover a murder has occurred from the Legendary Jak the Ripper. And because of boredom Amy, Hermes and Zoidberg decide they want to go on their own adventure where they explore the sewers of New New York where in turn they end up in the sub levels of New New York’s sewers. I think it was Bender’s Big Score where we find out the big toilet that the mutants explain takes them to the sub levels of the sewers. We find out what really is in the sub levels and that it’s actually completely different from where they came from. Meanwhile Fry, Bender and Leela get caught up trying to figure out who this Jak the Ripper fellow is since they can’t leave until they do. Bender of course tries to take the lead and figure it out, but Leela will come and save the day as usual. Amy, Hermes and Zoidberg find the awful truth about the sub level sewers of New New York and return back to the Planet Express Office where they meet up with Fry, Bender and Leela to find out they had a great adventure and the others would rather not talk about there adventure. Eventually the killer is discovered, we learn a little about what really is down there and everyone gets souvenirs.... including Bender.
I found this issue to be very fun to read. The nice things about reading comics compared to watching it on TV is you have more time to enjoy the scene and see all the extras around the action. For instance the name of the Pub bender goes into is called ‘The Firefox and Hound’ and you see robot Borat and Ali G. And even the not so obvious jokes like the Cray SX-6 appearance. I had to hop on Wikipedia to figure that one out. Also to find out what goes beyond the sewers of NNY was quite a surprise and gave me a little closure. I remember watching the movie and wondering if they will ever elaborate on that more or not.
I still have no idea what the cover has to do with the story. Although this has always been a problem I wish there was a little more attention to detail to the drawings. A spicier background or a couple more little hidden jokes would be nice. I must admit though that this issue did it better than others and that’s a plus. I enjoyed the story and found it not really unique but entertaining. The ending is a twist and I refuse to ruin it. If you haven’t picked up your copy, you should. If you would like to see what Futurama Comics is all about, I would defiantly suggest starting with this one.
Best Moments: Finding out what is in the sub-levels of NNY sewers. The Cray SX-6 joke. An appearance of the CSI detectives. Worst Moment: The suspenseful ending, to be sort of disappointed, but surprised in a weird awkward way. Overall Rating: B+

First of all... no, its not real. You can't go to Toys 'R' Us and buy the sets, this is made by LEGO aficionado Pepa Quin.
From the Planet Express Ship to the characters (even a head in a jar). It's quite impressive and really should be considered to made into a real set. Here is the link to the official site. And here is the link to the site that reported this.

In the spirit of the NCAA March Madness I set up a bracket of 16 different Futurama characters that are going against each other by your votes. Select which character you like more than the other and select vote. The votes will get tallied at the end of the week and the winners will go onto the next round to verse the other winners of that round. The rounds last for a week and next Saturday the 29th will be the second round.
